Gratitude

When unexpected things happen whether they are good or bad I chalk it up to that's life......we can't control all that will come. So most of the time I try and look at the silver lining in the bad and cherish all the small simple good things that happen because worrying about what will be is useless.  I have had several things happen this past month that were both good and bad. First the bath tub in our upstairs had a plumbing problem and without our knowledge it began leaking into our downstairs office. By the time I recognized the issue it had already leaked a substantial amount of water that collected on some electronics as well as the floor. The good news is we caught it in time and it didn't do too much damage. My husband was able to fix the pipe problem and thanks to some friends helpful suggestions it was taken care by the next day.  I am grateful that my husband has the skills to fix these types of household disasters as it would have cost us quite a bit to get a plumber to our home after hours not to mention that we only have the one shower in our house!
This month I also had the good fortune to be asked to create a sweet little painting for a local couple who planned to give it to their teenage daughter. First of all just being asked to create a painting for someone is such a reward, but when I went to deliver the finished painting to them they all greeted me and welcomed me into their home. I handed the painting to their daughter realizing in that moment that this was a surprise for her. Her mother snapped a few quick photos of her reaction of joy and I felt that joy flow directly to my heart. The story doesn't end there.....they handed me an envelope with the payment for the painting and I slipped it into my purse as I said my good byes and walked out to my car. When I got home I had some other business to attend to so I didn't open that envelope until later that evening. When I finally got around to checking the envelope I counted the cash and saw that they had over payed me for the painting by quite a bit. I called to let them know that they had given me too much and I was told it was intentional that they were so appreciative of my work and that they wanted me to have the extra. People and life can surprise you when you least expect it and that is why I am so open to experiences whether they are good or bad.  This was a highlight of my week!  I am so grateful for the gift I have been given....the gift of creating and sharing joy with others! Thank you all for sharing my journey and I hope you can become more open in your own experiences.

I love to create plain and simple. Most of my creations involve mixed media. I like to experiment with many materials just to see where they will take me. Creative play is the most important tool I have!
